Sometimes it can be helpful to talk with someone who can offer a fresh perspective and some expertise on an issue that is getting in your way.
I will help you explore both what is going well in your life and also what changes you are looking to make going forward. We will collaborate on your goals and work together to break each goal into smaller, achievable steps. You will find me actively engaged in our conversations. This style not only reflects who I am but also works well to move therapy along toward strategies and choices.
Typically, our sessions will focus on the current, day-to-day issues you are facing. We will explore the past as it affects your current thinking and coping, but we won't dwell on it unnecessarily. If we touch on something you're not comfortable discussing, then we won't go there until you are ready and believe it is worth exploring. And, I won't have a personal agenda. As I see it, my role is to listen, support, engage, and guide you so that you feel more satisfied with who you are and where you are going.
I recognize that what works for someone else may not work for you. No one else has your set of genes or life experiences. I aim to be creative and respectful in adjusting my approach to what you feel is helpful. I'll welcome your feedback to ensure that our conversations are meaningful and productive.
